Belly Dancing

Belly dancing is one of the best activities that can be done during pregnancy. It fortifies the pelvic floor (the muscle holding the baby), and it is also an excellent activity that brings numerous benefits, such as aerobic workout, motor coordination, balance, posture correction, and provides the woman with femininity and self-esteem.

Pilates

Pilates trains your body to be strong, flexible, and balanced. It involves a series of movements and positions that help to improve your strength and coordination. Deep breathing and relaxation are important in controlling how you do the exercises. Strengthen your pelvic floor, which will help to support your bowel, bladder, and uterus (womb) as your baby grows and moves down.

Helps with balance, as you may feel a little clumsier, or that your balance isn’t as good as usual, in pregnancy. Pilates exercises strengthen your core and may make you more stable when you walk as your bump grows.

Relax and control your breathing, which is essential for pregnancy and labour. Encourage the baby into the optimum position. It reduces stress & anxiety balancing your emotions. Boost the immune system. Learning key breathing techniques for labour & birth

Aqua Exercise

Hydro gymnastics is considered one of the safest activities for pregnant women. Given the zero gravity and sense of weightlessness in the water, pool exercises are highly recommended due to their low impact. It is also an excellent exercise to help diminish possible swelling that frequently occurs in the third trimester, as the fetus growth becomes more pronounced which tightens the arteries and veins, thus implicating the blood circulation. The hydrostatic pressure of the water facilitates the venous blood return of the limbs to the heart.

Post-Natal

This period is very delicate for the woman. It is the period of adaptation to the new member of the family. As the woman adapts to the new routine of breastfeeding, she can re-start doing specific physical activity to this period in the company of the baby, even with its participation. The specific exercises are very important because the organism of the puerperia still have some physiological alterations of the pregnancy that can last until six months after the birth. So the after birth mothers must do specific physical activities for this period.

Besides hormone alterations the after birth mothers also have alterations in the rectus of the abdomen producing diastase where is necessary a work to close it. It is necessary to be careful with the inside stitches of the cesarean that are still scarring. For the women that had a normal birth, do perineal exercises. Besides these cares we also recommend aerobic activities, working from low to moderate intensity to avoid damaging breastfeeding. It is an important period both for mother and baby.

The after pregnancy exercises help blood circulation and rebalance the general functions of the organism, stimulating the return of the uterus to its normal form, besides bringing excellent results to the intestinal activity and functions of the bladder. Physical activity in this period is very important because it puts the woman in her previous physical, psychic, and hormonal condition. It is also important the contact with other ex- pregnant women, not only for sharing fears that may appear but for clearing many doubts and small problems.

Doula

The word “doula” is greek, and means “with woman or servant”. Doula are women who give physical, cognitive, and emotional support during and after the work trough the use of physical exercises, breathing, and massages. All these techniques are used to alleviate pain, facilitate the progression of the work of birth, try to put the baby in the right position for birth, increase the contractions, and improve the dilation. The objective is to facilitate a good birth experience for new parents.

Hypnobirthing

The Hypnobirthing fundamental belief is that a ‘positive birth’ experience is a state of mind, it’s not defined by what happens during labour and birth but by how a woman feels about her baby’s birth. It is an antenatal class that will change not only your labour & birth but also your pregnancy & aspects of your life. The Wise Hippo wants to empower all pregnant women, and their partners, to trust themselves and the choices they make so that they can achieve the best birth possible and know that their baby had ‘the right birth on the day’. It eradicates any negativity or fears you have surrounding birth and replaces it with positivity, confidence, calmness & empowerment leaving you super excited about the birth of your baby & making the remainder of your pregnancy so much more enjoyable. Alessandra Ferreira

“I had an amazing experience with Larissa when I chose her to be my doula. The support she gave me throughout my birthing experience was truly invaluable. She is a loving, patient and gentle person that makes you feel super comfortable and at ease.

We were up the whole night together as I was in labor, and she did everything to make me comfortable (physically and emotionally) and I never felt that anything was too much for her to handle. She has a confident and professional attitude which is great especially since we had constant interaction with medical staff as we were in the hospital the whole time.

Thank you dearest Larissa! I feel really blessed to have had you with me, I still remember there was a moment, I didn’t let you go to the bathroom because I was hooked on your back massage and couldn’t let you leave my side!”
